Meet Pooja

Pooja is from a tribal village in Dhar district. Fortunately, her father always believed that daughters also have a right to good education. He decided to send Pooja to the Barli Institute so that she would be empowered and motivated to pursue higher education and be an example to other girls in her village.

She excelled in her academic performance, not only sharpened her skills and knowledge but was always ready to help her classmates as well. Upon graduation from Barli in 2016, Pooja returned to her village all fired up to continue her studies. She passed her twelfth standard exams and is currently in college pursuing a degree in agriculture.

Pooja travels considerable distances to neighboring villages to encourage as many girls as she can to continue their education. She teaches reading and writing to the children of her and tailoring to the women in her village.

Pooja’s father is very proud of her. He says that the training at Barli funded by the Mona Foundation has motivated his daughter to pursue higher education. He believes that there is no difference between a girl child and a boy child. Both should have equal opportunities of education. He cannot stop smiling when the villagers praise his daughter for teaching the children and women of the village. He is happy that she contributes in the development of the village.
