Kaseloki Secondary School
Zambia

The William Mmutle Masetlha Foundation (WMMF), founded in 1995, supports education and vocational training initiatives across Zambia. Its parent organization, the Masetlha Institute (est. 1983), has long provided community-based education in literacy, health, and service. Among WMMF’s initiatives is the Banani International Secondary School, a highly regarded institution for girls specializing in science and agriculture.
Building on this legacy, WMMF partnered with Pebbles to Pearls to respond to the urgent educational needs of Katuyola, a cluster of rural villages in Zambia’s North Western Province. For years, local youth faced limited options after ninth grade—trekking miles to schools in nearby towns, shouldering financial burdens, and confronting cultural barriers that particularly hindered girls from continuing their education.
At the start of the most recent academic term, this long-standing challenge was transformed with the opening of the Kaseloki Secondary School—the first community secondary school in the Mwinilunga district. More than a building, the school represents a community’s determination to ensure its children can pursue education close to home, within an environment that fosters intellectual growth alongside spiritual and moral development.
Through this initiative, Katuyola’s youth now have the opportunity to learn, thrive, and contribute to their community’s future without leaving their families behind.
